Vietnam e-Visa: who can apply, how long, how much
Since 15 August 2023 the Vietnam e-Visa is open to citizens of every country and territory. It allows stays of up to 90 days, with a single or multiple entries.
The government fee is USD 25 for a single-entry e-Visa and USD 50 for a multiple-entry e-Visa. It is paid to the Vietnam Immigration Department and is not refundable, even if the application is refused.
Applications are made on the official portal evisa.gov.vn. The Immigration Department states that standard processing takes about 3 working days; allow up to 5 working days in busy periods. You need a passport valid for at least 6 months, a scan of the passport photo page and a recent portrait photo.
When visa-exempt travellers still need an e-Visa
- You plan to stay longer than your visa-free period (for example more than 45 days for UK or German citizens).
- You need several entries, for example a side trip to Cambodia or Laos and back into Vietnam.
- You come from the second group of 12 European countries and your trip is not tourism (for example business meetings).
- You fly to Phu Quoc on the 30-day island exemption but also want to visit the mainland.
Apply yourself or use an agency
You can always apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn. Agencies such as Thai Viet Tourism submit the same official application on your behalf and add a service fee for checking your photos and documents, following up with the immigration office and offering urgent processing (from 1 hour, depending on submission time).
Thai Viet Tourism is a licensed private travel agency in Da Nang (International Tour Operator Licence 48-472/2025/CDLQGVN-GP LHQT). We are not a government agency; the visa is issued only by the Vietnam Immigration Department. Current prices are shown on our booking page.
